What is a Scrum Master?

Scrum Master

A Scrum Master is a key role in the Scrum framework, responsible for ensuring that the team adheres to Agile values and principles and follows the processes and practices agreed upon. The Scrum Master acts as a facilitator and coach, helping the team to perform at their highest level by removing impediments, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring that the team remains focused on their goals. They play a critical role in guiding the team through the Scrum process, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

The Scrum Master is not a traditional manager but rather a servant leader dedicated to supporting the team's success. They work closely with the Product Owner to ensure that the product backlog is well-defined and prioritized, and they help the team to stay aligned with the project's objectives. By promoting a culture of continuous improvement, the Scrum Master helps the team to adapt to changes, improve their processes, and deliver high-quality products. Their ultimate goal is to enable the team to become self-organizing and self-managing, fostering a sustainable and productive work environment.
